Christmas Homework

During the Christmas holidays, your teachers would like you to:

  • Spend time with your family and friends.

  • Do the things that you enjoy.

  • Eat the food that you love.

  • Watch a Christmas film.

  • Play a game.

  • Make somebody laugh or smile.

  • Do something nice for somebody else.

  • Play with your toys.

And finally…

Come back to school ready to learn!

Have a lovely Christmas and we’ll see you in 2018!

A massive well done to the whole of Acorn Class and Key Stage One for their amazing Christmas Nativity! The children (and adults!) worked so hard to put on a superb performance. Congratulations to all involved.

We are incredibly proud of the children. We think you’ll agree that our Christingle Church service was amazing. The children were well behaved, knew when to move and sang beautifully! What a fantastic start to the Christmas season.

Acorn Class Unit

As part of the infant Christmas production of ’Lights, Camel, Action!’ our class, along with singing many of the other songs, will be singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ on our own. Please could you practice singing this song at home with your child.

We also need your child to have a black outfit consisting of a black top, black trousers/leggings, black socks and black pumps. Please could we have these in school by Friday 8th December, at the latest, in a named carrier bag.

Please let us know if any of the above pose any problems for you.

Thank you once again for your support,

EYFS Team

The classrooms are now ready for Decoration Day. The day when the children in school are all mixed up and sent around the classrooms to make Christmas Decorations. These decorations are then used to decorate the school. We can’t wait! We will all be dressed up in Christmas outfits and ready to sing many Festive songs as we create. So get your outfits ready and don’t forget to bring a chocolate item or a bottle as a donation for the Christmas Fair next Friday.

An early night may be needed!

Remembrance

This week we have found out why we commemorate Remembrance Day. We have done lots of poppy based activities which are displayed in our Learning Journey Floor Books. Our apple printed poppies were added to wreathes which we laid at the Cenotaph at St. John’s Church. We held a two minutes silence whilst we thought about the soldiers who have given their lives for our freedom.

In the afternoon we invited our families and our community into school for refreshments, prayers and songs. Each class took part and we really enjoyed singing ‘Daisy, Daisy!’

After sharing the story ‘Stone Soup’ and completing lots of related activities, we decided to make our very own! We washed, peeled and chopped all the vegetables. Some children even brought in their own to add to the mix. We really enjoyed sharing our very own soup!

Paddington Bear is visiting from Peru. He wants to find out about life in the United Kingdom. He hopes to visit you this weekend and find out all about British families and British values, so take him with you wherever you go and let us know what he gets up to.

These are some of the values he is looking for:

  • We are polite and use good manners

  • We are helpful

  • We are respectful to each other

  • We share festivals to celebrate our community

  • We listen to each other

  • We treat each other equally

  • We are fair when we play and share

  • We care about our family and help at home

  • We do things as part of our community

  • We make friends and build friendships

  • We care for our environment and wildlife

  • We say please and thank you

  • We know right from wrong

  • We take turns and include others

Please write about what your adventures this weekend, include photos or drawings if you can, then return him with this book to class on MONDAY.
